Tribal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)

Tribal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)

KANA’s Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) provides cash assistance for Native families who are unemployed or underemployed. This program mirrors the States program and follows the same income and compliance guidelines.

Families can only receive a lifetime maximum of sixty months’ worth of benefits, so one of the main goals of the program is to assist the family in becoming self-sufficient. This is done by assisting recipients with work search and support services to help gain employment.

Services can include job-readiness training, assistance in finding a job, and supportive services that enable self-sufficiency. The program provides the tools necessary to promote and empower families to become self-sufficient so they can support and nurture themselves, their children, and community.

Our TANF specialist works closely with our Workforce Development program.
